The month before her passing, Melanie discussed a brush with a twister, taking control of her musical legacy, and a last retelling of her experience performing at Woodstock solo at 22: “It was terrible. People think it must’ve been great—hanging out with Jimi Hendrix, and Janis Joplin...I mean, are you kidding me! I was in terror for the entire day. But little by little I figured, maybe they’ll forget that I’m here.”
